Trips (Part 1)

Throughout my time abroad, I have gone on many trips-with my program, with my roommates, and even on my own. My first big trip was taking the train from Barcelona to Valencia to meet up with some friends from high school. Then, I got to explore Barcelona with them, and it was such a relief to have a taste of home at the end of the first month I spent abroad.

Then, as soon as they left, I went to Seville with my program, SAI. It was quite possibly one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. We took a bike tour, went to a bull ring (but did not see a fight, thank goodness), saw a Flamenco show, and ate delicious food. Honestly, the trip was a little rough because I did not feel like I fit in with the people in my program, especially since a lot of them came abroad with people from their home universities, so they already knew each other! But, I enjoyed the trip nonetheless. I tried to talk to new people to see if we would connect, and I even walked around the city on my own for a bit to take pictures and explore the places I wanted to go.

I then went to Manchester and Chester, England to go to a concert with another friend from high school. This trip was yet another success because not only was England everything I had imagined, but I also got to see a friend and make everything feel like home yet again.

After England, my next trip was to a nearby mountain, Montserrat. I went with a friend from class, and we used a program called Erasmus Barcelona to get transportation there. I would definitely suggest finding programs like this to go with because they organize the trip for you, and you get to meet other people studying abroad. During this trip, I met two people from Hungary, and we all decided to do another trip together the next weekend.
