Tips

Some helpful tips for anyone looking to study abroad:

  • Do not use the Piccell Wireless phone service. My suggestion would be to wait until you get to  your host country to buy a SIM card.
  • Bring an extra cell phone. I was lucky enough not to have my phone stolen, but I know a lot of people who were not so lucky.
  • Bring a portable charger
  • Have an umbrella!
  • Bring a camera, you will want the memories.
  • Don't be afraid to do things on your own. The people you meet may not have the sam interests as you, but you need to make sure you do everything you want.
  • Sometimes the price of going into things is worth it. I know that 7 euro entrance fee to a cathedral can be deterring, but it can be totally worth it. When else will you have this opportunity?
  • Eat local.
  • Stop and take time to appreciate that you're abroad. You may get homesick, but this is an awesome opportunity.
  • If you are struggling and missing home, make plans to call people. Time zones are hard, but not impossible.

Travel Specific Tips:
  • Don't fear canceled or delayed flights. You'd be supprised how common it is. They will reschedule, and it will work out.
  • Always look up the best way to get to a city center from the airport. Buses are usually a cheap and extremely accessible option.
  • Book museum/tourist destination tickets in advance.
  • Most people speak English, but have a translation app, just in case.
  • Google Maps is your best friend. It even tells you the best public transportation to use, and when busses/metro trains are running.
