Trips (Part 3)

After Spring Break I did not do much, until my trip to Amsterdam the first weekend of April. My roommates, a few other girls from the program, and I went to the Netherlands for 3 days. Arriving late Thursday night, we decided to save some money and stay in the airport, until we could go to our hotels in the morning.

Amsterdam was a beautiful city, with an overwhelming amount of bikes to avoid when walking. I spent a few hours at the Rijksmuseum looking at art. We actually went to Amsterdam during the Tulip festival, so we were lucky enough to see all of the beautiful flowers in bloom. Unfortunately, the Anne Frank museum was sold out, so I did not have an opportunity to visit it. And, of course, I had a stroopwaffle cookie and mini pancakes while I was there!

The last 3 weeks of my study abroad trip were so emotional. My sister came to visit for a week, I grew closer with two girls from my program, and I prepared to leave my new home.

I got to show my sister all my favorite spots around Barcelona and then we went to Madrid for the weekend of April 13th. Madrid was a great city with some incredible parks and even more incredible art museums. We stopped by the Reina Sofia and Prado art museums, went to Retiro Park, found another park along side a river, ate the best churros I've had in Spain, saw a Flamenco show, and even stayed in an old Palace that was transformed into a hotel.

The new things we did in Barcelona were: see the German Pavilion by Mies Van der Rohe, visit Gaudi's first house (Casa Vicens), and we went to the top of the Cathedral on Tibidabo.
